This lovely lady from Muzaffarnagar, was born and brought up in Mumbai. Her father, Mr. Surendra Singh, was serving the Indian Navy then. On getting a good offer in Lagos, Nigeria, they shifted off, where Shaily completed her balance schooling (6th-12th) from Indian Language School (CBSE BOARD). Thereafter she got back to India to gain B.COM, M.COM. degrees from Panjab University, Chandigarh. She is also an MBA from Amity Business School, Noida.
Shaily has worked as a Visa Officer in British Embassy, Lagos, as an Education Counsellor in Study Overseas, Chandigarh and as a Country Head-Administration in Multipro, Tolaram Group, Lagos. Currently, this TEFL qualified educator is a PGT (Business Studies) in DPS, Muzaffarnagar.
Shaily got married in 2005 to Wing Commander Rohit Kadyan (from Shamli). ‘’Airforce has given me a very beautiful life’’, she says.
After struggling with a painful infertility treatment for about 12 years, God blessed them with boy-girl twins, Devika and Paarth, who are almost 4 years old now. Her mother, a homemaker, is her inspiration. Her younger brother, Commander Sumit Malik is serving the Indian Navy as a Captain.
Shaily says that as an educator she always wanted to create a larger impact on larger number of people with regards to creating awareness about the importance of education in one’s life. So Mrs. India-One in a Million was a great opportunity for her to achieve her ultimate goal. She shares her experience as, “The best part about this pageant is that ladies of all age groups can participate which is very encouraging. But it was a very tuff competition with amazingly talented ladies having strong backgrounds, some being scientists, defence officers, national and international level sports champions, national level dance champions, strong single mothers, CEOs, authors etc. There were several rounds such as introduction round, talent round, photo shoot round, question & answer round etc. So it felt amazing emerging as a winner by just being myself throughout the competition. Hard work always pays.” Former Mrs. World-Dr. Aditi Gowitrikar and Sachin Khurana were the celebrity judges on the show.
Shaily now desires to work towards encouraging parents, who are not getting their children educated and are instead, sending them for work, by making them understand that education is a tool that can shape their children’s future beautifully and can equip them to face any challenges. She also wants to motivate all girls out there to become financially independent which is a must and not an option anymore.
She dedicates this hard earned success to her parents, husband, brother, in-laws, friends and most importantly Prashant Chaudhary Sir and Swati Dixit Ma’am (the founders of Mrs. India One in a Million Pageant), and the mentors plus previous winners-Harpreet Ma’am, Khushi Ma’am, Monica Ma’am, Ruchee Ma’am and Payal Ma’am.
