The National Exhibition for Upcoming Artists, 4th-6th December 2024, held at the Artizen Gallery, ITO, Delhi, became a vibrant platform for showcasing the innovative talents of India’s emerging artists. Organized with the aim of celebrating creative diversity and fostering fresh perspectives, the event saw participation from artists across the country. The inauguration was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Ramesh Kandagiri, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Printmaking at the College of Art, and Guest of Honour Dr. Ved Prakash Bharadwaj, a renowned art critic. The event was curated by Kamini Baghel, founder and director of the Manikarnika Art Gallery in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, whose vision brought together a compelling collection of contemporary works.

The first painting, “A Separation,” depicted a crying dog confined in a cage, symbolizing the helplessness and despair imposed by authoritarian systems and a girl attempting to rescue the dog, a powerful representation of humanity’s relentless fight for freedom and justice.
The second painting, “An Attachment,” offered a profound exploration of the modern human psyche. Featuring a cat confined in a cage, the work served as a metaphor for how individuals compartmentalize themselves in pursuit of a false sense of security. Vibhav’s depiction of human behavior—seeking comfort even in captivity—struck a chord with audiences, who found the piece both visually compelling and intellectually stimulating.
The exhibition drew praise from its esteemed guests, with Dr. Ramesh Kandagiri emphasizing the significance of such platforms in nurturing young talent. In his speech, he highlighted the role of art in fostering societal reflection and dialogue, urging artists to continue challenging the status quo. Dr. Ved Prakash Bharadwaj commended the diversity and depth of the works displayed, remarking on how Vibhav’s pieces, in particular, succeeded in bridging the gap between technical excellence and meaningful storytelling.
Curator Kamini Baghel played a pivotal role in orchestrating the exhibition, ensuring that every artist’s voice was represented and celebrated.
