Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has rolled out the updated Hornet 2.0, making it compliant with the latest BS6 Phase 2 emission norms. Known for its aggressive styling and sporty performance, the Hornet 2.0 returns with enhanced features, improved ride quality, and a new OBD2-compliant engine, positioning itself as a top contender in the premium commuter segment.

What’s New in the 2025 Honda Hornet 2.0?

The standout change is the BS6 Phase 2-compliant 184.40cc engine, now equipped with On-Board Diagnostics (OBD2) technology. This upgrade not only helps monitor real-time emission data but also enhances fuel efficiency and engine health. The engine still produces 17.03 bhp and 15.9 Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed gearbox—ideal for city rides and occasional highway runs.

Key features include:

  • USD (Upside Down) front forks for better handling
  • LED lighting across headlamp, tail lamp, and turn indicators
  • Fully digital negative LCD instrument cluster with 5-level brightness adjustment
  • Hazard switch for added safety
  • Sporty split seat and alloy foot pegs

Price and Availability

The 2025 Honda Hornet 2.0 is priced at ₹1.39 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It will be available in four color options: Pearl Igneous Black, Matte Sangria Red Metallic, Matte Marvel Blue Metallic, and Matte Axis Grey Metallic.

Bookings are now open at all authorized Honda Red Wing dealerships across India.

Market Positioning and Competition

The Hornet 2.0 competes directly with models like the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and Bajaj Pulsar N160. Honda aims to attract young urban riders looking for a stylish yet practical motorcycle in the sub-200cc segment.

According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the premium commuter motorcycle segment (150cc–200cc) saw a 7% year-on-year growth in FY24, indicating strong consumer demand for value-packed, mid-range bikes [Source: SIAM India, https://www.siam.in/].

Yogesh Mathur, Senior VP at HMSI, said in a statement:
“With the Hornet 2.0, we continue our focus on delivering a perfect blend of style, performance, and safety. The OBD2 upgrade reflects our commitment to environmental responsibility and riding confidence.”

Final Verdict

With its aggressive design, refined engine, and enhanced tech, the 2025 Honda Hornet 2.0 is more than just an update—it’s a statement. For daily commuters who want sporty aesthetics without compromising on reliability, this bike is worth a serious look.
